The assembly includes the connecting rod, hood latch mechanisms, springs and associated hardware, along with the hood release cable and cable support bracket used with the later inside-release system.
Beginning with 1981 applications, Full-Size Jeeps transitioned to a cable-operated hood release that allowed the hood to be released from inside the vehicle. The 1982 Jeep Technical Service Manual documents this system on Cherokee, Wagoneer and Truck models, including the cable routing along the hood brace rod and attachment to the cable support bracket and hood lock assembly.
